E-Discovery technology leader Lateral Data, LP today announced it has completed performance testing for its all-in-one Viewpoint e-Discovery software. In bench tests using 30 “worker” workstations, a typical server/data storage production platform and a mixture of data types, both e-mail and e-files, Viewpoint completed its processing tasks on 50GB of un-extracted native data in 1.08 hours – a speed believed to be among the fastest in the e-Discovery software industry.
Viewpoint 4.5′s documented performance was shown to be more than two to four times faster than published results from a major e-Discovery software competitor, depending on the number of workers used. The two tests employed comparable hardware, classes of test data, and data amounts; within Viewpoint, however, the data also included posting to the Viewpoint Review component.
In other measured testing, when processing 250GB of test data comprised of a mixture of Personal Storage Table (PST) files, loose files and embedded objects, Viewpoint 4.5 was able to complete its assigned tasks in either 25 hours (5 workers), 12.5 hours (10 workers) or 6 hours (20 workers). Processing included cataloging, staging, file type identification, hashing, compressed file extraction, e-mail decompression, embedded object extraction (recursive), metadata extract, text extraction, HTML creation and indexing of all content and posting to the Viewpoint Review.
“Whether the user is a service provider, law firm or corporate legal department, data processing speed is of critical importance. Time most certainly equals money in these environments,” said Dean Kuhlmann, VP of Business Development at Lateral Data. “Our priority has been to develop an e-Discovery software product that excels at processing performance, and we believe these tests are a strong indication of our success.”
“Fenwick & West and its clients have significantly benefited from the speed with which Viewpoint processes documents. With only a few practice support personnel on staff, we’re able to process and post to review in-house more data in less time than through using any service providers,” said Brad Bonnington, Manager of Practice Support at Fenwick & West LLP. “The advantages of Lateral Data’s Viewpoint have dramatically improved our ability to both manage e-discovery costs and provide top-quality support.”
Offered in both SaaS and licensed, on-premised options, Viewpoint 4.5 does the work of multiple tools, lowering both costs and resource needs for anyone involved in litigation support. Featuring a familiar Outlook-style interface, the software can execute collection*, pre-processing, processing, analysis, review and production in a fraction of the time of other leading products. Furthermore, it offers advanced capabilities including complex analytics, email threading, visual conceptual analysis and near-duplicate comparisons to keep pace with the needs of sophisticated requirements.
Viewpoint 4.5 is now available under a budget-friendly simplified pricing model that reduces service fees to only two components: pre-processing and processing. Other components of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), including Collection and Preservation*, Review, Analysis and Production, are included at no additional charge.
